Frequently Asked Questions: CIMA

Q: What does the process look like?

A: You must first submit your certification program application to the Investments and Wealth Institute (Institute) and pass a background check.

You will then complete and executive education program through one of the Institute's registered education providers. After you have passed, you go on to complete the comprehensive Certification Exam at an approved testing center.

After all tests have been passed, the Institute has a few more administrative things to complete. For more information on their process, visit their website.

Q: How long does your average client spend studying for the CIMA?

A: Each client is different, and has different needs for each exam. We recommend an average of 40-60 hours for the Education Provider exam. The Institute suggests a study time of 150 hours for the Certification Exam. Again, these are only suggestions based on the previous experience of our clients.

Q: If I take the Two-Day Class, what is your recommended study path?

A: There are several steps that I recommend for your path to greatness.

  • The first step is to start guided self-study with your included eLearning for 20-25 total hours to get your feet wet and become familiar with the material.
  • Two day class
  • 40-60 remaining hours of study for the Education Provider exam.
  • Pass the Education Provider exam.
  • Continue an average of 10-15 hours a week for the Certification Exam; around 150 hours.

Q: I learn best using practice questions. Do you offer any as part of your programs?

A: Absolutely. We have a bank of practice questions with detailed audio/video answers.

Q: Does using your service guarantee successful completion of the CIMA?

A: While passing rates have historically been high, past performance does not guarantee future results.

Q: How do I get a receipt for the class I took? I would like to get reimbursed.

A: You should receive a receipt via email when you register for your class. Otherwise, we are happy to provide you with one. Please contact us.

Q: Will the eLearning cover the material for both the Education Provider and Certification Exams?

A: Yes. Our materials will prepare you for both exams.

Q: Will you be recommending books to help us prepare for the CIMA?

A: Yes. Our live class and eLearning will cover the materials required for the CIMA. The main textbook is the same as the one recommended by Berkeley.

We do not cover certain topics in our prep (i.e., ethics, IPS, etc). For those, we have compiled a wonderful list of of small books and articles. For example, we have found a fantastic 80-page book that will be provided compliments of the author for all of our participants. and offers a potential of 4 hours of CE (CIMC, CFP, ChFC, and CLU).

Q: Can we bring Pierre in for a training session?

A: Yes. Have Pierre, will travel. Please contact us to discuss options for CIMA training sessions.

Q: How long will I have access to my materials?

A: You will have access to your class and its materials for one year from the date of the class or your date of registration.
